Associate or Bachelor Anthropology Degree holders can have different entry-level jobs but they may have limited opportunities in the professional world. No wonder, some 46% of all graduates eventually go for a higher degree – this is from "The College Majors Handbook."
As with majority of scholastic disciplines, it’s necessary to have a doctorate degree to spearhead research projects and teach on collegiate level. However, a bachelor’s degree with required state certifications is already enough to teach elementary and secondary levels.
Associate Degree In Anthropology
Typically, an associate degree in Anthropology is a 2-year course. It’s a variation of the usual 4-year course undergraduate degree. The student needs 60 semester credit hours minimum to earn this degree. After completing it, there would be an opportunity to work immediately or complete the Bachelor’s Degree course.
Bachelor Degree In Anthropology
When a student earns a Bachelor Degree in Anthropology, he or she has already established a foundation for good education. This is typically a 4-year course traditionally earned from campus schools. Finishing this degree would open more doors to the student’s career. It is an essential building block to complete their academic and professional life.
Master Degree In Anthropology
Taking up a Master Degree in Anthropology means that the student is certified to achieve expertise in this field. Many people study for their Master’s Degree even if they’re working full-time on a job. Some professions require a masters program and it’s better for students to arm themselves with one to perform better in their career as professional anthropologists.
In the end, they may pursue their study for a more specific field such as medical anthropology or paleoanthropology. And even if the students do not wish to continue their education in Anthropology, it would be good to enroll on any of these degree levels. Some students eventually study law or public health in the end. Just remember that the key to succeed in your alternative program is determining your goal and take the necessary coursework in order to qualify for the profession you choose. It’s best to do this as soon as possible so that you don’t waste time in going for the wrong degree program.
